Meet Egon Ismaeli Isangya, an inspiring entrepreneur from Sakila, Tanzania. Rising from the challenges of his childhood, Egon has dedicated his life to serving underserved communities through unwavering faith and compassion. Heroes Walk Strong Adventures (HWS) proudly donates 10% of its proceeds to our nonprofit, Heroes Walk Strong Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization committed to uplifting families and empowering children to succeed in their education.
Egon is happily married to his wonderful wife, Joneis, in Sakila village, where they are blessed with two sons, Jorden and Jotham. Together, they support his mission to empower their community.
With a passion for photography and nature, Egon captures the breathtaking beauty of Tanzania’s wildlife as a safari guide while sharing the rich culture of his homeland. Join him on an unforgettable adventure—every journey is not only an adventure but also contributes to a brighter future for those in need.
Richard Emanuel Mbise is a devoted husband and father of three, residing in Sakila village, Tanzania. As Chairman of Sakila and a businessman, Richard ensures clients have a smooth and memorable safari experience.
Having grown up in poverty, Richard developed a deep passion for helping others. He believes that tourism can be a powerful tool for change. By offering unforgettable safari adventures, Richard not only aims to provide exceptional experiences but also generates income that enables him to support those in need.
In 2020, Richard partnered with Egon and George, driven by their shared commitment to serve. Together, they provided essential supplies, such as corn, beans, and hygiene materials, to families while empowering communities through donations of goats and fresh milk.
Their outreach has expanded to six regions in Tanzania, including Arusha and Kilimanjaro, assisting families and supplying school materials for children to help them pursue their dreams.
When clients book with us, they contribute to making a difference in a child’s life. Richard’s dedication to aligning tourism with community development enriches the safari experience, fostering positive change and ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.
Meet George Issangya, an experienced mountain safari guide who leads journeys up Mt. Kilimanjaro while expanding his mission beyond simply showcasing Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes. Inspired by his childhood experiences with poverty, George is dedicated to supporting those in urgent need of food, clothing, and essential resources.
Having witnessed firsthand the hardships faced by children, such as attending school without shoes or basic supplies and struggling to eat just once a day, George’s compassion drives him to create positive change. He was excited when his friend Egon shared a similar passion for helping others, and together they recognized their potential to make an even greater impact.
As George guides clients on exhilarating adventures through the stunning landscapes of the Serengeti and majestic mountains of Tanzania, he also raises awareness for his mission—encouraging visitors to bring resources for families in need. Through his efforts, George truly bridges the gap between tourism and community support, fostering a meaningful impact on the lives of Tanzanians!
Dr. Stephanie Sluys is a dedicated veterinarian and humanitarian who has always had a passion for caring for animals and helping those in need. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from St. George’s Veterinary School in Grenada and completing her clinical year at Washington State University, she has refined her skills in various clinical settings, specializing in exotic cats and nutrition.
Inspired by her grandfather, who devoted his life to helping children in Sakila, Tanzania, Stephanie sought to uphold his legacy. In 2005, during a visit to the school he helped establish, she gained firsthand insight into the challenges children face due to poverty, witnessing their lack of resources and opportunities. This experience fueled her desire to make a difference in their lives.
In 2021, Stephanie started a Facebook group called Heroes Walk Strong to raise funds for her cousin, who was fighting stage 4 breast cancer. Tragically, both her cousin and grandfather passed away that same year. Heartbroken yet determined, she didn’t want the name to fade away. Welcomed by friends in Tanzania, they transformed the group into a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting Egon’s mission of serving underprivileged communities in Africa. Heroes Walk Strong Foundation is now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Together with Egon, Richard, and George, she co-directs Heroes Walk Strong, providing vital assistance to widows and children. Additionally, 10% of the proceeds from the safari venture, Heroes Walk Strong Adventures, are donated to support the nonprofit. This initiative allows clients to experience the breathtaking beauty of Tanzania while directly contributing to children’s education and well-being.
